                Medical Coding is the process of assigning numeric or alphanumeric codes to medical diagnoses and procedures, and entering them into a computerized record system.

          Medical Coders use a set of previously assigned codes for coding purpose. These codes are mainly ICD, CPT and HCPCS. ICD codes or International Classification of Diseases are set of codes published and managed by World Health Organisation (WHO). These are codes which contains diagnosis, signs and symptoms or any other abnormal behaviors on a patient. For instance ICD code, L40.0 denotes plaque psoriasis. 


               Psoriasis is a chronic skin condition that causes patches of thick, inflamed, and scaly skin. It is caused by an overactive immune system and is not contagious.
