                           Medical Coding is the process of assigning numeric or alphanumeric codes to medical diagnoses and procedures, and entering them into a computerized record system. Medical coding provides a more accurate way to store and retrieve patient information. This accuracy can help reduce medical errors and improve patient safety.

                   Medical Coders use a set of previously assigned codes for coding purposes, which includes ICD, CPT and HCPCS. ICD codes or International Classification of Diseases are set of codes published and managed by World Health Organisation (WHO). These codes contains diagnosis, signs and symptoms of a patient. For instance ICD code, E75.23 denotes Krabbe Disease. 

                    Krabbe disease is a rare, inherited disorder of the nervous system that is caused by a deficiency of the enzyme glucocerebrosidase. Symptoms typically appear in infancy and include developmental delay, muscle weakness and spasticity, vision and hearing loss, and seizures. The disease is progressive, and it can lead to death in early childhood. Treatment options are limited and may include enzyme replacement therapy, physical therapy, and medications to manage symptoms.
